Aftermath, Part 2
Jarod | December 28, 2005So, yesterday I went on a scavenger hunt. At least that is what my quest for the lost present turned out to be. I actually found my way into the city’s main shopping streets and malls and what did I find there? Even more people than before Christmas, cashing vouchers, bartering unwanted gifts, buying now-cheap stuff on sale and so on and so forth. I just wanted to find me a copy of the Firefly DVD set and a few other things. Turns out to be an impossible endeavour. In the one shop where the info guy actually knew what I was talking about it was sold out, too – just like everywhere else. So I ordered it from the internet of course. I may be a geek by nature, but all the times I try to act like I was normal I find that I was right from the start. Internet good, real-outside-world-shopping baaad. And f*ck the whole ‘wrong day to go shopping’ theory – in a city with way more than half a million people you can expect more than one bigger, mainstream+ CD/DVD shop, can’t you? Obviously not. I mean, they had all the Stargate boxes and many other shows that I’ve never heard of. Gee.
By the way, while browsing through all my old stuff I found a few of those collectable stickers from Star Trek – The Next Generation. I still have a Q, a Mr. Worf … and you guessed it? – a Wil ‘Wesley’ Wheaton sticker. If I had a car, he’d my new favourite bumper sticker.
